I was raised in a town where people rarely took advantage of educational or employment opportunities (and resented people who did), spent most days drinking and partying (etc.), and scraped for money- even in cases of multiple generations living in a single home; opportunities for financial stability and loving relationships were traded for public welfare and infrequent hook-ups- which often led to many (many) children being born into broken homes and poverty; elders of the community sacrificed their remaining years and lifetime earnings to care for local children (and their parents); older children often took on the role of parent (and vice versa) raising younger siblings and taking on household duties; many houses were filled with discontentment- which often resulted in neglectful and unloving (and in some cases, abusive) natures; and practically everyone, who jeopardized themselves, ceaselessly complained about the government and rich people not providing enough for them and their responsibilities. (No judgment- as I understand people tend to act out of ignorance or become products of their environments. I also understand that this could have been me. I am merely sharing a sad, brutal reality that was, and is unfortunately still, prominent today.)
Having witnessed and even being a conception from much of this, as a young child, I knew I needed to choose an alternative path for the benefit of myself, future children that I may have, and loved ones, as well as, my nation. So, I purposed myself to avoid succumbing to generational and societal stigmas; work hard and further my education to, some day, establish generational wealth and love, as well as, contribute to economic growth. (Thankfully so, as present times are seemingly challenging indolence and unpreparedness.) I have not been perfect on this journey; but, thanks to God- and the “Lights” He placed in my life, I was able (and continue) to divert from all of the fore-mentioned stigmas and move steps closer to accomplishing my goals.
Although some individuals envy and speak ill of my moral character and attempt to alter my path to a more substandard lifestyle, I desire to continually show God my appreciation for the life He blessed by tuning out peripheral noises and proudly being who I am- and helping others, whom desire, do the same.
*Walking a path that negates the crowd’s has taken me further than “fitting in” ever could... And those I love reap the rewards of it- which is everything I could hope for 🩷
I didn’t have the best day Saturday.
I’m unsure why I was down; however, I knew one way to cheer up was to take a trip... even if it would be a quick one this time. (I know I recently had a 10-day vacay, but we’re going to disregard that lol.) So. I booked passes for an animal encounter; grabbed a friend of mine and hopped on the road.
Needless to say, it was a great weekend w/ some amazing new feather friends 🩷
I don't have relationships with my parents- or many people for that matter. So, during my most challenging life moments- particularly with my educational and entrepreneurial journeys, I didn't have many I could turn to for support. However, I was blessed to have 3 phenomenal individuals, whom willingly stepped in with a desire to assist me. Without their love and support (and of course, the love and blessings of God), I wouldn't be in this present moment of my life. (For such reasoning, I believe a simple "thank you" will never be enough.)
Today, I am ecstatic to be able to put together my biggest surprise for them yet- which will include a 1) free vacay to any part of the world that they desire to go w/ round-trip airfare, hotel/resort accommodations, food, beverages, and an excursion included; 2) ride on a chartered helicopter to enjoy an all-expense paid day-trip/brunch with me, 3) voucher an NFL football game (since they're huge football fans), and 4) “thank you” card w/ a personalized note and added gift <3

P.s. I will be rewarding similar gifts to a few followers/initiative supporters in the future. Be sure to stay tuned for “SRewards by Sabria” (https://sabriarevader.com/rewards).
As 2024 comes to a close, I reflect on the amazing year I had...
Here are my top highlights:
...I look forward to seeing what 2025 holds.
I recently had to dilate the eyes of a young patient of mine. (FYI. These drops are not a fave for anyone- including adults.) Let’s just say this resulted in a not-so-good reaction/sentiment for the beginning of his FIRST eye care experience. I felt extremely bad. So much so, I asked my supervisor to run to the store to purchase him “apology” gifts- which consisted of what he told me was his favorite character (Sonic) toy + a water-coloring book. I made it back in time to give him the gifts before seeing the doctor- as he was waiting for the dilation drops to kick in. After doing so, he was able to see the doctor with no issue. I was so happy that the eye care experience became a little less scary- and he left with the biggest and cutest smile that melted my heart.
Seeing how happy this made him, prompted me to find a way to make the eye care experience a little better for other kiddos whom will visit the office. (While some of the kids and I tend to connect from simple funny/warm introductions, I felt as though a gift, even if small, could be an added comforting gesture.) I decided to purchase some items this past weekend… Today, I am excited to introduce my new “treasure” box - which I have filled with a number of items (bubbles, chalk, play dough, stickers, and small gadgets/toys).
If you and your child happens to pay my eye care office a visit, feel free to stop by my station and ask for a piece of the “treasure"!
*Update: New surprises just arrived in the treasure box!
